Howdy, folks. Time for my second log. Unfortunatley, the second verse is much the same as the first. I'm thinking of upping these logs to twice a week in stead of just once. 7 days is still too much time for me to waste. Alo I'm going to break up my acitvities into 15 minutes chunks to further to break up the time on goals, so I'll atleast make some progress in some things. Last Monday, Michigan beat Washington in the Nation Championship game for football. Michigan's fight songe "The Victors" has become a guilty pleasure song for me since, because the guilty aspect come from me being a Penn Stater and the pleasure come from it being one of the greastest college fight songs ever.
1.Primary
a. Writing: Just dowlaoded the license for a bit of writing software called Scrivener. I don't feel like using MS Word for writing a novel and other fiction. Scrivener looked to be more geared towards producing a book so that's why I got it. Unfortunately I haven't put any amount of pen to paper yet, so to speak
b. Resume/Career: Nothing. I want to dust of my Linkedin profile, update my resume, and look towards enrolling my grad school. My parents really want me to go to grad school, and my worplace will foot the bill for any A's I get.
c. Exercise: I rode my bike for all of three minutes today, because I was just too cold and windy for me to ride longer than that. This is why I want to break stuff up into 15 minutes
d. Animation: I opened the Blender software I have burning a hole in my Steam library for like a minute
2.Secondary
a. Building: My sister got my a knock-off lego set of the Philadelphia Flyer's mascot for Christmas and building that has been a major time sink. I used to be big into lego over 10 years ago, but building this set has made me realize how bad out of practice I am with building set. Plus the instructuions for this set aren't quite as good as a bona fide lego set. It did make me come to a realization about the creative process: Sometimes you need to go back and redo multiple stages before making progress. I also need to be more patient with the porcess is something I've realized. She also got me a set to build of Beaver Stadium, but I don't think I'll get to it immediately after building this set
b. Reading: I read through more of Lord of The Rings. It's my favorite book of all time. It's so rich. I'm going to spoil what progress I've made in the book, so warning for what's up ahead. (Spoiler) I've gotten from the part where Aragon, Gimili and Legolas have made camp under the eve of Fangorn forest to just after the end of The Battle of Helm's Deep. This read through has made me realize how awesome all characters and stuff about Rohan is. Tolkien's writing is just so rich and wonderful (End of spoilers). I also have another book I'm reading through , Unlrashing The Artistis Within, but I've only read the first chapter. I have a bunch of other books I've got burning a hole in my shelf I need to read, too
c. Programming: Nothing I have a book about C++ that I want to crack upon. I took a programming course aboutPython in college, but it sucked and I dropped it part way through the semester. Wanting to take another crack at it.
d. Music: Have learned nothing about music theory and done nothing with music. Have a trumpet but haven't touched it in years. That needs to change. Would be a great idea to relearn the fundamentals.
3.Tertiary
a. Videogames: Massive Steam and GOG library with a bunch of unplayed games. Want to work my way alphabetically though them.
b. Youtube Watch Later: Hundreds of videos in my watch later playlist I need to pare down. Some of the videos in there have been in there for years and I need to take the plunge ot watch them.
c. TV: Didn't watch any shows I feel I should watch. Shows like The Sopranos, Breaing Bad, etc. The thing is I'm cheap and don't feel like paying for a streaming service, but at least with these log keeping track of my progress, I'd probably get my money's worth tracking the shows I've watched and encouraging me to keep watching
d. Music: I have a bunch of records and want to listen through them all alphabetically. I did listen to Are You Expereinced? and Axis: Bold as Love by The Jimi Hendrix Expereince. Jimi Hendrix is worming his way up my ranking of favorite muscians with those relistens. Songs like Third Rock from the Sun and Wait For Tommorrow are so great and just stick in my head.
4.Miscellanous
a. Saxaphone: I eventually want to learn saxaphone, but didn't do anything about learning or getting one
b. guitar: Same story as the saxaphone. My uncle has a guitar and that inspired this flight of fancy to get and learn guitar
c. Language: No progress. Want to learn a bunch, but the first one I want to learn is Irish. I know it's a near dead language, but I'd think it'd be really cool to learn it.
d. TBD: I can't think of anything at the moment, but I'll keep you posted in a fututre log if I think of anything
Apologies for any grammer and spelling mistakes. I'm trying to get this done before midnight and I spent most of the evening at my neighbors', drinking and watching football.
